Supporting People Living with Dementia in Rural Ireland

Dementia affects more than memory, it impacts a person’s emotional well-being, confidence, relationships, and sense of belonging. The biopsychosocial model of care recognises that effective support must address biological, psychological, and social needs.

This is where services like FACT Social Club make a real difference. By providing meaningful activities, social connection, and a supportive environment, we help people living with dementia maintain independence, confidence, and quality of life.

In rural communities across the west of Ireland, where access to services can be limited and social isolation is a significant challenge, community based supports are particularly important. FACT Social Club offers opportunities for friendship, engagement, and inclusion while also providing valuable support for families and carers.

Our impact extends beyond the individual, helping to build more dementia-friendly and connected communities where people can continue to live well and remain active in the places they call home.
